FAQs

Do I need a reservation?

Nope. We are always so excited to accept walk-ins, when able! But a reservation will guarantee you a spot in the studio (and we’ve been busier).

How long until I can pick-up my pottery?

I am so thankful for all of your support, but it’s a lot of mugs to glaze for one person! In general, it will take give or take 3 weeks. Emphasis on the give or take! If you do not glaze the entire mug with at least 3 layers it will take longer than that. If you want your mug back faster, I would definitely recommend visiting another pottery painting studio in the area. We will reach out to you as soon as your pieces are ready. Thank you for your patience <3

How long will the pop-up be open?

August 31st will be our official last day! :) After August 31st, The Art Room will be open one more time on September 2nd, walk-ins only, from 12PM until sold out.

It seems like I will have to pick up my pottery after the pop-up has ended……?

To accommodate everyone, I will be holding mug pick-up hours in Union Market District throughout the month of September! In the coming week, the September pick-up locations and times will be posted to The Art Room's Instagram (@ArtRoomDC) and this website.

Can I actually drink out of the mug I make?

Yes! After the pieces have been fired, they are both dishwasher safe and safe to use.

Do I need to be an experienced artist to paint pottery?

Not at all! This space is created as a reminder of how fun it can be to just enjoy the creative process and make art.

How do I submit my artwork to be considered for the gallery?

Just email ArtRoomDC@gmail.com with any pieces you’d like to be displayed, along with an artist bio!

Can I visit the gallery without painting a mug?

Of course, come support our artists! Stay tuned for gallery nights. All information will be posted on our Instagram @ArtRoomDC

Do you have space for me to work on my own art or craft?

Yes! We offer a studio pass, and you’re welcome to bring your own materials into the studio - whether you’re a full time artist or are just looking for a place to start a new knitting hobby.

Can my kids paint pottery?

This space was created for adults to connect and de-stress through art, but kids are welcome in the studio.
